Crossing, The
For: youth aged 14 to 18. Coed with separate dormitories.
Applicants enter this therapeutic community after withdrawing from drugs and alcohol, then stay in the residential program for six months to a year, depending on their needs. Managing the program is Portage, a Canadian agency which currently operates centres in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
Admission to the program is voluntary. Please call the Health Authorities to set up an appointment. An interview is conducted with an agent from one of the Health Authorities prior to admission, during which the client's needs and readiness are evaluated. You can also call Portage Keremeos with any general questions or to make an appointment for a visit, so that the potential resident can get a better idea about the environment and the services that are offered.
